Description

The skin cracks like a pod.
There never is enough water.

Imagine the drip of it,
the small splash, echo
in a tin mug,
the voice of a kindly god.

Sometimes, the sudden rush
of fortune. The municipal pipe bursts,
silver crashes to the ground
and the flow has found
a roar of tongues. From the huts,
a congregation: every man woman
child for streets around
butts in, with pots,
brass, copper, aluminium,
plastic buckets,
frantic hands,

and naked children
screaming in the liquid sun,
their highlights polished to perfection,
flashing light,
as the blessing sings
over their small bones.
(Imtiaz Dharker)

This is the first photograph of a series that i am working on. The subject is water, and what i thought would work is the effect of water on people and animals and plants. Comments and critiques are most welcome. :)

Perfect use of the rule of thirds! :) and an interesting photograph, but I think the girl's face does not convey the intended message of lack of water, assuming that is the intended message.

The intented message is the effect of water on people...where a drop of it could make a big difference in everything...hence the smile :)...but thanx anyways

Great expression on the background and awesome capture. But i can't help but think this needs an extra something else and i don;t know what that extra is.

Awesome one, top marks.

Wonderful. The smile on the girls face lights this up even though she's quite blurry.
Don

Edit: I didn't mean it as a bad thing when I said the girl's face was blurry. I think the DOF is perfect.

Thank you all for your comments...i was trying to focus more on the drip...if you see closer...you would be able to see the girls expression clearly...
